The Northern Areas Council Youth Advisory Committee (NACYAC) are a committee comprising of local youth who are seeking to make a difference within their local community. Anyone aged between 12 and 25, residing within the Northern Areas Council, is welcome to join. NACYAC are always looking for new members to share their ideas and get involved.
NACYAC provides a bridge between the Northern Areas Council, the Local Communities and Youth. The committee endeavour to produce events, activities and workshops that are focused on what the local youth want. NACYAC receive funding from the Office for Youth and together with support from Council, co-ordinate some terrific fundraising activities for the committee. This allow events and activities to be available at low cost and often free for participants.
As a guide NACYAC meet on the first Thursday of each month, this can sometimes change due to school holidays and event commitments. Upcoming meeting dates are:
- Thursday 6th June 2013 @ 5.30pm held at the Jamestown Council Office
- Thursday 4th July 2013 @6pm (this is our AGM and will be going out for a meal, venue to be advised)
- Thursday 1st August 2013 @ 5.30pm held at the Jamestown Council Office
The committee understands that transport can sometimes be a challenge for committee members, therefore the local taxi can be arranged to take the member to and from the meeting to enable attendance. This can be very helpful for parents with numerous commitments.
