Council Confirms CEO’s Successful Completion of Probation

Published 23rd December 2025

Northern Areas Council is pleased to announce that at its December Council meeting, Elected Members endorsed the successful completion of the Chief Executive Officer’s, Ross McNeil’s, probationary period, effective 16 December 2025. This resolution reflects Council’s confidence in the strong leadership, professionalism, and stability Ross has brought to the organisation since commencing in the role.

Mayor Keith Pluckrose said the decision marks an exciting and positive step for the future.

“Council is very pleased to confirm that Ross has completed his probation. Over the past five months we’ve seen solid progress and a steady hand at the wheel. He’s shown a genuine commitment to serving our communities, and that’s what matters,” the Mayor said.

“This gives us a good sense of stability heading into 2026, and Council looks forward to working with Ross as we keep things moving in the right direction.”

Council also resolved to authorise the Mayor, in consultation with the CEO and with guidance from the CEO Performance Management Panel as required, to prepare revised draft Key Performance Indicators for the CEO. These KPIs will be presented back to Council for finalisation and confirmation. The Mayor noted this next step is an important part of ensuring clear direction and accountability.

“Refreshing the KPI framework supports ongoing transparency and alignment with Council’s strategic priorities,” the Mayor said. “It’s an opportunity to build on the strong foundations already in place.”

Council looks forward to continuing its focus on strong governance, organisational stability, and delivering outcomes for our communities.
