Across each year, non-profit groups in the Northern Areas Council generally have access to four unique opportunities to source community grant funding for projects or events. Commitment from Council and partnerships with Neoen Energy Australia Pty Ltd Energy (Neoen) and AGL make these opportunities possible.

Neoen Energy Australia Hornsdale Wind Farm General Community Fund

Key Dates: Closed in March 2024

Funding Pool: $60,000

Grant amount: Up to $5,000

Neoen seeks to make a positive contribution to the communities in which it operates. As a major employer and investor in the region Neoen wishes to fulfil its responsibilities as a participant in the local community by establishing a fair and transparent community grants fund. In this regard the Neoen Energy Australia Hornsdale Wind Farm Community Fund has been designed to support communities affected by Neoen operations in the Northern Areas Council region of South Australia.

Grants are available for community non-profit clubs and organisations. Each applicant may submit a single application per round under one of four grant programs: A) Asset, B) Local Events, C) Wellbeing Projects, D) Volunteer Training.

Neoen Energy Australia Hornsdale Wind Farm Energy Efficiency Community Fund

Dates: Due to Open in April 2024

Funding Pool: $60,000

Grant amount: Up to $8,000

As a major employer and investor in the region Neoen wishes to fulfil its responsibilities as a participant in the local community by establishing a fair and transparent community grants fund. In this regard the Neoen Energy Australia Hornsdale Wind Farm Community Fund has been designed to support communities affected by Neoen operations in the Northern Areas Council region of South Australia.

Grants are available for community non-profit clubs and organisation. Each applicant may submit a single application per round. Eligible projects are split across the following categories: A) Solar Panel Installation or Upgrade, B) Energy Battery Storage, C) Lighting Upgrade, D) Installation of insulation, E) Upgrade of white goods, F) Other.

Northern Areas Council Community Project Grants

Dates: Anticipated to open in August 2024.

Funding Pool: To be confirmed

Grant amount: Up to $3,000

Northern Areas Council has an annual competitive grant program which has been running since 2011. Grants are available for community non-profit clubs and organisations seeking support for asset, event or wellbeing projects that benefit communities within the Northern Areas Council.

AGL Hallett Wind Farm Community Fund: Northern Areas Council

Dates: Anticipated to open in October 2024

Funding Pool: To be confirmed

Grant amount: Not set

As a major employer and investor in the region, AGL strives to make a positive contribution to the communities around the Hallett Wind Farms. The Hallett Wind Farm Community Fund has been designed to support the surrounding community in the mid north of South Australia. The Community Fund opens once a year to support local community initiatives and/or activities and is delivered in partnership with the Northern Areas Council. Since construction of the wind farms AGL has invested more than $1 million into the community.
