TechCollect Drop Off Site

Gladstone, Jamestown and Spalding Waste Transfer Stations are all a TechCollect Drop Off Site.

TechCollect is a free national recycling service for computers, computer accessories and TVs (e-waste). TechCollect was established in response to the Federal Government’s National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS) and is the only not-for-profit industry backed e-waste recycling service approved under the NTCRS.

B-Cycle Battery Recycling

B-cycle is about creating a responsible battery lifecycle – from buying better batteries for the planet, to safe use, and convenient recycling. As a national, Government-backed Scheme, B-cycle brings together everyone from importers, to retailers, to everyday Australians, to give dead batteries new life. Mobile Muster

MobileMuster recycles all mobile phone components, including all brands of handsets, along with their batteries, chargers and accessories. Free of charge. Mobile phones, landline phones, chargers, and mobile accessories should never be put in your household recycling bin. They can be recycled, but only when dropped off at designated collection points.
Australia has a national recycling scheme for mobile phones that also accepts mobile phone batteries, accessories, landline phones, and other electronic items. Run by not-for-profit MobileMuster, there are more than 3,000 drop-off locations across the country.

As of December 2023, there are no drop-off locations within the Northern Areas Council. However, there is a free mailing service.
There are three mailing options to post back your old mobiles and accessories for recycling. The mailing options are free and will be paid by MobileMuster. For detailed information visit, https://www.mobilemuster.com.au/recycle-a-mobile/.

  1. Use your own packaging and attach our prepaid returns label. Complete the online form. Note that your package should not exceed 10kgs. If it does, please use multiple packages.
  2. Pick up a MobileMuster satchel from your local Australia Post office or JB Hi-Fi store.
  3. Complete the form below and we will send you a MobileMuster mailing satchel.

Cartridges 4 Planet Ark

Cartridges 4 Planet Ark is an innovative recycling program that provides Australians with a free, easy and environmentally-accredited way to recycle their used printer cartridges. You can drop off your used or empty laser and inkjet cartridges at all Officeworks stores and participating Australia Post, Cartridge World, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, JB Hi-Fi, Office National and Office Products Depot outlets. Inkjet cartridges, toner cartridges and toner bottles are accepted. This includes cartridges used in printers, photocopiers and fax machines. Please note, some boxes may not be visible or on display due to limited store floor space. In these cases, please ask the staff at the counter and hand your cartridges directly to them.
