Northern Areas Council is delighted to announce the addition of two highly experienced professionals to its team, enhancing local capabilities and bolstering Council’s commitment to serving the community.

Scott Reid has been appointed Manager Assets & Operations, while Mick Tobin returns to the region as Council’s Community Safety Officer.

“We are thrilled to welcome Scott and Mick to the team,” said Northern Areas CEO Kelly Westell said. “Their wealth of experience, commitment to community service and understanding of the district’s needs will greatly contribute to our focus on aligning our operations more closely with the expectations of our community.”

Scott brings a wealth of expertise accumulated over 30 years in civil engineering, project management and works supervision. Scott holds qualifications in Civil Engineering and Land & Information Systems, and his extensive experience spans both private and local government sectors.

Before joining Northern Areas, Scott served as the Strategic Projects Manager at the City of Tea Tree Gully, where he spearheaded the development and delivery of major strategic projects. His leadership was instrumental in establishing and monitoring capital works programs and implementing an effective organisational project management framework.

Scott has held managerial roles at the Town of Gawler and the Rural City of Murray Bridge, demonstrating his ability to secure substantial infrastructure funding and oversee diverse projects in regional communities.

Mick joins us as Community Safety Officer, after 11 years as Fire Prevention and Compliance Officer at neighbouring Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council.

Mick’s expertise in community engagement and managing compliance, combined with his dedication to community service as a lieutenant in the Country Fire Service, will greatly benefit the region. Mick has deep roots in the local area and a great understanding of the community’s needs, having grown up in Laura and attending Gladstone High School.

“Scott and Mick will play critical roles in keeping our community safe – by delivering fit-for-purpose infrastructure that meets the needs of our residents, businesses and industries and by ensuring high levels of compliance with the various regulations that guide our operations,” Ms Westell said.

“Both are looking forward to spending time working with Council Members, the rest of the team and the community to create positive outcomes for Northern Areas."
